A:
No, but yoga does help increase your flexibility.

Q: Do I need to have prior yoga experience to go to one of your classes?

A: For the most part no, during all my classes I provide different variations of the yoga postures, allowing each student to practice at the level they are comfortable.

Q: I want to practice yoga at work, what do I need to do to make it happen ?

A: Believe it or not the hardest part is actually deciding you want to do it! The next step would be to see if there are any other enlightened souls like you around the office. Once you established that there is an interest you're done. Just contact us by email at jaymehernandez@hotmail.com or at 514-261-YOGA (9642), we'll come in and set up a first trial session.

Q:  What style of yoga do you teach?
A:
I am trained in the Kripalu tradition. This style of yoga allows you to develop your own intuition into the path of yoga. Kripalu yoga is a combination of raja and hatha yoga; meditation and the physical aspect of yoga.

Q: Where did you complete your training?

A:   l am a graduate of Pranayama Center in Toronto where I completed 200 hours of practice under the guidance of Brigitte Koright, experienced teacher and practitioner of over 30 years. Our curriculum consisted of a one year intensive, practicing (4-5 times a week), meditation, breathing, and body awareness, as well as lectures in anatomy, health, communication, mantras and philosophy. Currently taking another 1 year 200 hr intensive with the Joy of Yoga Studio.

Q: What is your teaching philosophy?

A: When practicing yoga I encourage my students to honor them themselves, through self observation, allowing them to practice using their own intuition. I offer a safe and comfortable environment acting as a guide towards the development of the student's personal practice.

Q: Do you teach private classes?

A: Yes I do teach private One to One classes for my current students and individuals referred personally by an associate. Private and Semi - Private classes are a great way to work on personal goals within one’s practice, fine tune posture alignment, focus on breathing techniques, and deepen your meditation practice.

Q: Where can I buy a yoga mat or yoga bag?

A: I sell professional quality yoga mats for $26 tax included and for a durable and practical black yoga bag the price is $20 tax included.

Q: What are the benefits of yoga?

A: Wow, I could go on for hours. Yoga is beneficial on many levels, physically, mentally and spiritually. Physically yoga helps create a toned, flexible, and strong body. It improves respiration, energy, and vitality. Yoga helps maintain a balanced metabolism, promotes cardio and circulatory health, relieves pain, improves your athletic performance, and it helps you look and feel younger than your age. Mentally yoga helps you relax and handle stressful situations more easily. It teaches you how to quiet the mind so you can focus your energy where you want it to go. Spiritually yoga also builds awareness of your body, your feelings, the world around you, and the needs of others. It helps you live in the concept of "oneness".

Q: Do I need to change my religious beliefs or values to practice yoga?

A: No, yoga is not a religion. You can maintain whatever beliefs you have or do not have and practice yoga.
